Jazz Camp will take place July 20th-24th from 1pm-4pm at Hendershot's with a final showcase culminating the week! To learn more about this camp, click through the slide deck above.

The cost is $500 per student with payment required in full up front.

HOW TO APPLY:

Step 2: Upload Melodic Charts

Upload melodic charts in the appropriate keys, and recordings containing two choruses of a jazz standard are provided with these options:

  • -Full rhythm section (for melody instruments)
  • -Rhythm section w/ melody but no bass
  • -Rhythm section w/ melody but no drums
  • -Rhythm section w/ melody but no chordal instrument

VIRTUAL AUDITION RECORDING INSTRUCTIONS

01. Choose a recording with the appropriate configuration.

(For example, a saxophonist would choose the full Rhythm section while a guitarist would choose the rhythm section with no chordal instrument.)

02. Press record and introduce yourself, stating your name and instrument and the major scales you will play.

Then record your two major scales.

Finally, start the provided track and record over the two choruses.

Horn players should record the melody (provided via pdf), and one chorus of an improvised solo. Rhythm section players should record one chorus of “comping” under the provided melody followed by one chorus of a solo (chord charts provided).

***HOW TO LABEL YOUR RECORDINGS

Label the recording with your name, (for example Dizzy.Gillespie.mp3) Export the recording in a common format (mp3, mp4 video, aiff, or wav). You'll upload the recording at the bottom of the application form.
